I like this author and enjoyed this story of missing people and small town loyalties. We don’t really get to know any of characters very deeply, but that didn’t hurt the story. The pace was steady and moved along quickly near the end. There were a few unexpected twists. The ending was okay in a “less is more” kind of way, but I still had a few questions. The storyline was good, but I really didn’t like any of the characters. The writing was good, and I appreciate that it had been proofread and edited before publication. My one complaint was the repetitive use of the word “breath” or “breaths” used 70 times and 10 “sighs” on top of that. Annoying.

I found this story to be a nifty mystery. The only reason I didn’t give it a 5 star rating was because I never got a real feel for the first person narrator. Other characters bloomed for me, pretty much, but the main character, Abby, was sort of a blur. That and the fact that Abby kept a secret for just a little too long made me not LOVE this book, but I did like it a lot. I did not guess the ending, the primary one, but I did get on to the final reveal. It was a good read.

Loved it. I have to admit I picked this book up because of the A.T. and missing hikers mystery. It did not disappoint. For anyone who’s gone hiking and ended up in a location that is so eerie it gave you chills, this book is for you. You can feel the dark in Cutter’s Pass, the atmosphere and location are so haunting. Add to that 6 missing hikers and you have a good mystery. This book is written from the MC’s POV and starts with the latest disappearance and works it’s way back to the first. For those looking for romantic suspense, there is none. I still enjoyed every page. I loved this book. I read it in a day.
