Celebrated playwright, distinguished painter and poet, Stanislaw Wyspianski (1869-1907) Author of The Wedding pdf Book has long been recognised by his compatriots as an outstanding dramatist whose influence on modern Polish theatre has been second to none. The Cracow premiere of “The Wedding” in 1901 was a sensation which won the author nationwide acclaim and a permanent place among his country’s literary greats. Hardly a year passes in Poland without a new production of the play.
Noel Clark was born in London and studied at Queen’s College, Oxford. He has worked for the BBC as a foreign correspondent and then as a freelance literary translator – mostly of classic plays in verse – from Polish, French, Dutch and German. His translations include the works of Fredro, Wyspianski, Vondel, Kleist, Lessing, Corneille, Moliere, and many others.
