The Dating Plan by Sara Desai was a wonderful follow-up to The Marriage Game. I love the San Francisco-based Patel family and learning more about Indian culture through them. In this book, software engineer Daisy agrees to a faux engagement with her brother’s friend, Liam, who broke her heart by standing her up for prom a decade earlier. Their meet-again in the opening scenes of the book made me laugh so hard I almost fell off the treadmill!
This book is a great blend of humor, pathos, and steam and I really enjoyed seeing Daisy and Liam’s relationship evolve and deepen over the course of several dates. There are some major twists and turns on the road to their happily ever after and the ending of the book is deeply satisfying. Gotta love a hero and heroine who not only overcome obstacles, but show tremendous amount of emotional growth in the process.
Although The Dating Plan can easily be read as a standalone, it’s even more fun if you read the first book in the series because I was so happy to see characters like Max, Daisy’s emotional support dog, her cousin Layla, and her aunt Taara a.k.a. the creator of some truly vile mash-up dishes once again.

Loved every minute of this read. With Liam needing a wife to keep his brother from inheriting, and demolishing, his family’s distillery and Daisy just needing to keep her Aunties from ambushing her with random potential husbands, it was kismet that they run in to each other after 10 years apart and a lot of heartache between them. But things definitely heated up quickly for the two and I was committed to being dragged along for the ride!
