When we graduated from college, my friends and I made a pact that we would only play this stupid game five more times—at each of our bachelorette parties. Tonight’s number four and it couldn’t come at a worse time. I have a meeting with a new client tomorrow. I can’t be hungover. Unfortunately, I’ve never played this game without ending up that way. I’m already at a disadvantage with the client. It’s the professional baseball team in town. I’m not much of a sports fan. I don’t even know who the players are, but I guess I’ll worry about that tomorrow. Tonight, it seems that, once again, I’m destined for tequila and bad decisions.

Don’t get me wrong, I like being a professional athlete. I just wish it didn’t come with so much fame. People are always staring at me and tonight’s no exception. All eyes are on me as I walk into the bar—except for one pair. And they’re attached to a gorgeous woman. When she finally looks up from her phone, she catches me ogling her and rolls her eyes. I don’t think she has any idea who I am. Damn, that turns me on. I spend most of the night trying to figure out how to talk to her when suddenly she lands in my lap. She’s playing a drinking game with her friends and has to get me to kiss her to win. I want to kiss her—passionately—but not when she’s this flat-out drunk. I’d at least like her to remember our first kiss.
The Next Day
Sophie
I’m painfully hungover. All I want to do is get done with this meeting, so I can go home and have my friends tell me about the guy I tried to drunkenly seduce last night. All I remember are his eyes—his soft, beautiful eyes. I’m on the field with my new client watching the players practice when the catcher jumps up from behind the plate and starts walking toward me. When he pulls up his mask, the eyes I’ve been thinking about all morning are staring at me. “Sophie?” he says as a smile starts curling at the corners of his mouth.

I loved this book so much! Seb and Sophie’s relationship is definitely up and down, but whose isn’t! I love Seb’s protective nature! This book had me wanting more as I read it and it only took me 5 hours to read the entire book! I’ve never read a book so fast! I definitely recommend all of Donna Schwartze’s books if you haven’t read any yet! I love how all of her books connect to each other! I will definitely be on the edge of my seat waiting for the next of her books to come out!

From Lala’s Book Reviews I was very excite to read Truth or Tequila after reading the synopsis, seeing the cover, and finding out that it’s a baseball romance book because once upon a time, I baseball romance used to be my favorite until I found hockey romance (but that’s irrelevant).
Sophie is the founder/owner of her company where she is hired to go in and teach people how to clean up their image and become more appropriate. And one of her rules is to never get involved with the clientele or any of their extensions.
The night before she is supposed to go and meet her newest client, she goes to her best friend’s bachelorette party which she is running late and ends up getting delayed even more when a famous person is going in the same time she is. She could care less who it is as long as she is able to get in and celebrate with her friend.
Seb is instantly drawn to Sophie when he sees her coming in not only because of her looks, but she’s the only person in the parking lot who could care less about his famous baseball status, and he even goes as far as getting his security to make sure that she gets inside.
Finally Sophie gets in and bypasses Seb all together going start to her friend where they are quick to playing a game from truth or tequila that they stated playing in college and somehow makes it to their bachelorette parties. Sophie is the lightest of light-weights and after several rounds, she is dared to go kiss Seb who’s been trying to get her attention all night.
When she makes it up there to him and tries to kiss him, he turns her down telling that she is going to be sober for their first kiss, but he helps her friends and takes her back to their hotel room and tucks her into bed before leaving.
The next morning Sophie is off to meet her new client who happens to be the owner of the baseball team that Seb plays for and is instructed to get to know the guys to find the source of the problem. Sophie is kind of wary since she royally embarrassed herself in front of Seb the night before but she has a job to do.
Seb has a reputation of being a womanizer of sorts and Sophie hasn’t had the best of luck when it comes to dating, so neither of them really expect for their attraction for the other to go anywhere, but they have one of those rare connections and seem to be the other’s half, but will secrets keep them from being together?
So, Truth or Tequila is a cute, fast paced book. It’s the first book in a companion series. It’s kind of a slow to medium burn with a lot of tension that doesn’t reach it’s peak until well over the half way point.
I love Sophie’s independence and her determination to finish a job through, and her desire to do the right thing and help others. She puts others in front of herself many times. Sophie is down to earth and has this great energy, yet she isn’t afraid of making her presence known. Yet, there’s this side of her that is vulnerable that she guards.
Seb is something else because in the public eye he has a very specific reputation, but when we see him through Sophie POV and even his own, it’s nothing like you would expect. He’s all but the perfect gentleman when it comes to Sophie by making sure she gets back to the hotel safely and tucking her in and kissing her forehead to respecting her wishes when she needs time to standing up for her and her name. Sure his fuse gets ignited quickly when anyone talked even slightly bad about her or when another guys looks at her to long, but he’s nothing like I had expected.
One of the biggest problems I had about the book is the secret between them and how quickly things were resolved because this secret had been causing some hesitation and doubt for quite some time and after some time apart and a snap of fingers even thing was resolved between the two. Then the person that the secret was about wasn’t really a huge part of the book except for a couple of short conversations. It just felt like one of those things that was kind of thrown into the book to cause unnecessary drama. I mean other than that, its a really quick read that will make you laugh and swoon!

Series! Sophia is a fun and endearing character. She’s tough and bold in her professional life as a crisis communication consultant, but she’s also sweet and a little quirky. She catches the eye of Seb, the catcher for Miami’s MLB team. He thinks she’s gorgeous, but when she clearly doesn’t have a clue who he is and rolls her eyes at him his interest in her increases. Sophia fights her attraction to Seb since he is employed by her newest client, but Seb doesn’t make it easy for her to ignore him.
This was a fast paced read, with wonderful characters, a good storyline, a little humor and some mild angst.
