There is a time for everything under the heaven

There is a time for everything under the heaven.” This is a common statement we are conversant with from the bible or scriptures. However, some people find it challenging to come to a better understanding of the concept of “a time for everything.” The book of Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 explicitly documented this.

1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:

2     a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot,

3     a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build,

4     a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,

5     a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,

6  a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away,

7     a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak,

8     a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.

Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8

There is a time for everything – Bible Study

The book of Genesis chapter 2 vs 5 says:

Now all the trees of the field were not yet on the earth, and all the herb of the field had not yet sprouted, for God had not sent rain upon the Earth and there was no man to work the soil.

Genesis 2: 5

This was the event that happened during creation. Prior to the creation of man, The Bible made us to understand that herbs had not yet sprouted on the face of the earth because there was no man to work the soil.

In as much as God already created the plants of the earth, he made them not to start growing, because there was no man to tend them. However, after he made man, He then caused the trees of the garden to sprout.

“God planted a garden in Eden to the east, and placed there the man whom He had made, and God caused to sprout from the ground every tree that was pleasing to the sight and good for food”

Genesis 2:8-9

A Life Lesson – There is a Time for Everything Under the Heaven

This is a very big lesson to all of us. Sometimes we ask God for something, and if we don’t get what we asked for, we begin to ask questions like, does God answer prayers? does God exists? Is God still with me? Some people go the extra mile of denying the existence of God.

However, if God at that moment opens our eyes to see why He did not do for us what we asked for, we will eventually go down on our knees and beg Him for forgiveness.

Sometimes, when God does not give us what we asked for when we pray, it could be that certain things are not yet made ready to enable us make proper use of what we asked from Him.

From the portion we read in the book of Genesis above, we understand that, though the Lord had already created the trees, the herbs and the plants, but He did not cause them to sprout yet, because there was no man one yet to tend them. This goes to agree with the title of today’s daily bible study that, there is a time for everything under the heaven.

Though the trees, the herbs, the plants that God created on the third day are now in existence, it was not yet time for them to start sprouting, why? Because there was no man yet to tend them, because it was not yet the right time for them to sprout. However, immediately God created man who would tend and take proper care of the trees, He then gave man the purpose and responsibility of taking care of all He had created including the trees, herbs and plants, and that was when they started sprouting.

Wait for the Right Time, Be Patient

Whenever you ask God for anything and He did not give you what you asked for immediately, do not complain, be patient and wait, perhaps, it is not yet time for you to have what you asked for. Nevertheless, once everything is ready for you to have what you asked for, God will surely give it to you, because there is a time for everything under the heaven, know this and know peace my friend.

Yes! There is a time for everything, and to everything is a season.

May our time of blessing and success come quick and in our days, Amen.
