In today’s daily bible nugget, we shall discuss the steps we can follow to live a godly life in an ungodly world.

Looking at what is happening in the world today, it is never judgmental if someone says that we are living in an ungodly world. There is crime everywhere, hatred, corruption, etc. All these and more points to ungodliness. Everyday, man invents new ways of distancing himself from God. The society is now making it a norm to several things that are anti-bible in the name freedom and liberty. The world has drifted away from God in so many things and so many areas. But you can stand your ground and withstand the pressure of following the ungodly trend.

You can be in the world and yet not of the world. In this daily bible nugget, we shall discuss few steps how to live a godly life in an ungodly world.

Step one: Relocate to a relatively godly neighborhood.

You will find it difficult to keep up with godly living if you stay around people that do not have same ideology as you do. Where you live matters, the people you talk with, the school you attend, the things you see every day, etc., all of them have a way of either contributing positively or negatively to your life. If you end up living in a neighborhood where people do not have any regard for God in their ways of living, then, chances are that you will find it difficult to live a life that will please God. Though it might be challenging, but it is a step you need to take to enable you live a godly life. Your environment has a lot to contribute to your way of life.

Step two: Make the bible your guide

The Hebrew “principal word” for the Bible is “Torah.” Torah simply means instruction. Instruction for what? Instruction f or living – instruction for life. The Torah or the Bible is the manual for life. Just as every device has instruction on how to use it, life too has a manual on how to live it, and that manual is the bible. If you live all your life according to the bible’s injunctions, you will live a godly life all the days of your life. 

The book of Joshua chapter 8:1 says:

Keep this book of the law on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

Using a bible as a life guide will not only lead you in the right part of pleasing God and being godly in this ungodly world, it also has divine blessings attached to doing so.

Step three: Get yourself a friend that has same interest as you do

Iron sharpens iron. If you have a friend that desires to live a godly life in this ungodly world, the both of you can serve as each other’s support. When one person is warding off, the other person will draw them back. This way you will always be on track. Going solo can be challenging, but having someone to checkmate and encourage you can go a long way to help. So, make a friend today, that you can study the bible with, pray with and discuss living a godly life with.

Step four: Get yourself a biblical role model

Sometimes, it is easy when we follow the footsteps of others who have gone the path we are moving, or the path we tend to move. It is easy because the others that have gone the path bunch of information and experience you can learn from. Having a role model makes the journey easier. There are a lot of figures in the bible that lived godly lives, read their stories and emulate their lives. Take them as your role models and your will see what your life will be like. Taking someone like Noah as an example, in the world where everyone had gone astray, Noah remained faithful to God. Such a person can be a role model to look up to while striving to live a godly life in an ungodly world. Knowing that someone had already done so and ended well will give you the courage and confidence to continue your pleasing God even people around are totally ungodly.

Step five: Ask for divine support

Everything becomes very easy when we have divine support. No matter how much effort you put into achieving a thing, if you do not have divine help, it’s not going to be easy. God’s grace and mercy makes everything smooth and stress-free. Pray and ask God to assist you on this journey. With God all things are possible. Do not lean on your own understanding. Acknowledge The Lord in all you do, and He will guide your path. If you truly want to live a godly life in this ungodly world, then pray to God about that, He will give you the strength to keep His laws and ordinances, which when a man keeps it pleases God. Pray for God’s divine grace; ask for divine support, for with divine support, everything will work out easier than you imagined.
