In today’s daily bible study, we will discuss a bible nugget titled, “The power of random act of kindness.” Let us begin by discussing a passage from the bible.
When Moses fled from Egypt to Midian, we read in the book of Exodus 1:15, that he sat down by a well. Now, when the seven daughters of Jethro, the priest of Midian came to the well to water their father’s flock, they were driven away by some shepherds, but Moses got up to their defense and helped them water their flock.
The girls returned home earlier than usual; this made their father to ask questions. Why have you returned so early Jethro asked? They answered, an Egyptian rescued us from the shepherds, he even drew water for us and watered the flock. Then their father asked, and, where is he? Why did you leave him? Invite him to have something to eat.
Well, the rest of the story is familiar, Moses was invited, and he ended up marrying one of the daughters of Jethro.
If we closely analyze the bible passage, we can glean numerous lessons. Firstly, we can learn the importance of showing appreciation.
Jethro taught his daughters how very vital it is to appreciate someone that did you a favor.
Secondly, from the bible passage we read, we can see the power of “random act of kindness” in action, and what follows it.
Moses showed unsolicited random act of kindness to the daughters of Jethro at the well. The girls were driven away because they were powerless, but Moses acted like a gentle man, he did a random act of kindness to the daughters of Jethro without expecting anything in return, this act later resulted to an interesting ending.
Child of God, I want you to understand that there is a very big reward in showing act of kindness. Be kind to everyone, whether you know them or not. Moses was a stranger in Midian, but that did not hinder him from doing an act of kindness. And the random act of kindness he did rewarded him. You never can tell who the random person you are being kind to might be. He or she might be an angel of God in disguise. Remember Abraham in the bible, he did a random act of kindness to angels not knowing they were angels, and it was that random act of kindness that resulted to him having a child with Sarah, and him being able to intercede for Sodom and Gomorrah, and in turn save his nephew Lot.
So, today, try to be kind to anyone that you come in contact with.
