Dealing with a pirate ship full of demons that just moved into town was hard enough. Now on top of it, I have to convince a werewolf that I’m not his fated mate, he’s just drugged. Easier said than done.
Though I have to say, having a gorgeous man show up and do all of your chores while telling you you’re beautiful isn’t the worst thing to happen to a girl.

Kimberley Lemming is a revelation!
This book, this series. Phenomenal. A perfect blend of a modern girl in a fantasy world. The characters are hilarious with the banter pulling you in in a way that feels like you’re in on all the jokes, the world is familiar enough that you don’t have a ton of lore to wade through and the story, though a bit sparse, was engaging enough that you want to know what happens next. I enjoyed the crap out of this book.
Now although it is a stand-alone you will need to read the first book as there is a partially continuation of the conflict there as well as some plot point spoilers. It definitely also adds to the overall enjoyment and understanding of the world particularly when it comes to the demons and their backstory.
And this needs to be said. Having the FMC in a fantasy novel be not just a POC but Black is so rare but it fits so well. It never draws attention to itself but little things like putting on her bonnet to go to bed or getting mad at the threat of getting her hair wet or Cinnamon doing her husband’s hair being a part of them bonding just…wow.
A great read, tons of fun and heart. Felix was so sweet and patient with Brie and her insecurities. I will say that the character’s backstory is bare bones to say the least. I would of loved to learn more about Felix growing up in a family of orcs or see Brie building up her business.
