This is a steamy debut book that suckered punched me! As soon as I was falling and feeling safe, something happens that added to my already broken heart. Julia is a beautiful person, who is caught up in chasing a goal and blinded by the manipulation she has been under for years. I get it. She was so use to getting. Getting the dream job, the condo, the fiancé, that when it seems to relax you come face to face with a monster. What may appear to look right isn’t what feels right. She has hope for this person, but she is the one that needs saving. For a moment a chance getaway to return home, she chooses freedom. As short lived as it seemed, it was electric, it was a burning fire that set her into motion.
Nathan may have the broken past, but he is there to hold Julia to keep her safe, and to give her orgasms so good it will feel like sinning! He wanted to smudge her lipstick, taste her, have her up against a wall, on her knees, and he couldn’t love her without protecting her.
I think I was suppose to feel frustrated. It’s not an easy decision when you are in the thick of things. You have this life already set and going forward and another life where its unknown. Gosh! I mean think of when you stay at the comfortable job for too long, just because its your routine. Or how much you miss where you use to go grab coffee and now go further away for a cup! Now picture a LIFE decision. See I feel like after a pivotal part it was no longer about choosing the monster, Robbie over Nathan. It was more a decision of returning to her city somewhat predictable life or starting new and realizing the luxuries may not be already set, but a full life is right there for the taking. Bonus, hot sexy firefighter Nathan!
She forgives somebody, that really wrecked me, I don’t know if I could, but I do feel like the author made me believe Julia had to, to completely be free and live the life she deserved. Yes Julia, is on edge, and she is frustrating, and indecisive, but I think we were suppose to feel that. I felt that and it made her life with Nathan so much more!
