When I began I didn’t like Laura very much. She was self centered, pampered and spoiled. She was caught up in her celebrity. Not caring about the ugliness that became herself and her life. All she thought about was herself. Scott was the same to me but he at least saw the reality of it and accepted it for what it was. It took Laura some time and deep soul searching to see it.

When she feels at her lowest she goes home and this is when her world changes and so will the opinion of her. She meets Paul.

Paul is a sweet guy. Nice and good. Honest and caring. He wants to protect her and be her last everything. The attraction is instant and so is the heat they have. These two sizzle but she is afraid. Afraid of letting go of her old life. although she loves feeling protected and cared for. Of not having to always be in control. Of having someone wanting to care for her and not care about her celebrity status but for her. One car accident and Paul coming to take care of her and her world changes. She begins to change and see what she became and where she wants to go from there. Paul helped her here. He supported her, cared for her and showed her love and patience. He believed in her and wanted to be her everything.

Seeing her change was wonderful. Once Paul enters her world you slowly come around to liking her. He really helps her see what she had become and what she truly wanted. She stands up for herself and with Paul’s love and faith in her and her talents she grows and becomes confident in herself. she sees she is more than just celebrity that she is just Laura. Laura- a kind person who wants to love and be loved. Who wants to do what she loves fashion and not what her mom desired celebrity. She finds love and so much much more with Paul.

this is the sweet and caring story of how Paul and Laura come together. There is some drama and insecurities. some soul searching and finding of oneself. but mainly there is a lot of sweet moments and caring. A sweet romance to curl up in a chair on a rainy day and read in one sitting for Paul and Laura will put a smile on your face as they find their way to forever and being a family.

Great read! I lioved Here, Home, Hope and All the Difference and the Laguna Beach series is proving to be GREAT as well!! I read them in order: Laguna Nights, then Laguna Heights then Laguna Lights. I love the way by the third book you know all the characters and can really see their growth. The whole series throws light on how reality tv shows manipulate footage to make people appear in a negative light. I love the way this third story in the series allows a character to turn it around. And I always love a love story and you get that here. Read them together!

The New Laura

Hmm… So this was a somewhat hard story for me to connect to. Actually, Laura was hard to connect to. I haven’t read the other books in this series, not that it mattered because this read like a standalone, so I have to prior knowledge of Laura. But I found her a little…aloof, distant, like she was portraying someone she’s supposed to be as opposed to who she wants to be.

My struggle to attach to Laura didn’t make this a bad story. Not at all. In fact, it was enjoyable because of one thing: Laura’s growth.

This turned out to be a story of redemption and self-discovery with a touch of romance to sweeten Laura’s new beginning. I’m not down-playing her relationship with Paul. In truth, it was nice to see her with such a stand-up guy after that ass of an ex she got rid of. But their relationship wasn’t front and center for me. I enjoyed watching Laura outgrow the plastic shell she wore and grow to love the skin she was in, the person she hid from others.

I feel cheated though. Like I missed out on a huge chunk of Laura’s life because I haven’t read the first two books. Motivation to read them? Definitely. And not only because I got to see Laura change so much in this story, but because I like Ms. Rouda’s clean writing style. It isn’t all sharp edges and straight lines. It’s…descriptive, precise, inclusive. You know? Connection with characters is a must but so is immersing myself in the story. Don’t just tell me what’s going on, paint the picture so I feel like I’m in it. Ms. Rouda did that beautifully in this story.

I’m glad I didn’t quit this story. I would have missed out on so much. This is a great story for anyone wanting a little lighter material in the New Adult genre, who is looking for a romance about a young woman who comes into her own without a million pounds of angst weighing her down. But I highly recommend reading the first two books to appreciate her growth like it should be.
