I loved this book! Usually, I miss the male POV, but I was actually glad not to have it this time.
Charlie is exactly my kind of hero. I loved how funny and sarcastic he was. I loved how he teased her and pushed her buttons. I loved that he was considerate and kind and thoughtful. I loved that was contrasted by his dirty mouth and dominate nature in the bedroom. There was a few things that went a little bit too far for me personally in the bedroom, but there was always consent and both parties always wanted everything that happened. Even when Erin was saying no, she meant yes and both parties knew it.
I really liked how organically their relationship developed. There was instant attraction but the emotional part developed at an appropriate pace.
With Charlie consistently telling Erin he wasn’t a good guy and not cut out for a relationship, that’s when I was happy not to have his POV. Male characters who constantly push this from their POV drive me crazy. But I was perfectly content only hearing about it only from Erin’s POV.
There’s a big surprise moment when you learn about why Charlie insists that he’s a terrible person and not good at relationships. It’s pretty shocking for Erin and the reader and Ms. Harlow did a great job at not hinting too early so it was a complete shock.
As in the last two books, there is some dirty, s*exy s*ex! It’s more rough s*ex like getting tied up, handcuffed, restrained, hair pulling and squeezing to the point of pain, but these were all things that the heroine desired and enjoyed. The scenes are all long and detailed and very explicit! They use the F- word a lot while in the act. If you’re not into this, then move along.
I’ll definitely be reading more books by Melanie Harlow in the future!
