So, I’m a “typical” guy who doesn’t typically read Jodi books but I saw it was free on Amazon for my Kindle and I asked my wife who is a big Jodi fan if she wanted me to download it. I did and a few days later I was looking for a quick read, something that was different from the Game of Thrones series, so I decided to give it a try. When my wife would tell me about her Jodi books I always felt that it seemed like a female version of a John Grisham story. A major event happening in a person’s life or in a family and then most of the story revolves around the court happenings. I say Jodi seemed to write a female version of Grisham because one focuses more on the event and the feelings of people because of the event, the other focuses less on the feelings and more on the court proceedings. Again, I have never read a full Jodi book, and my wife never read a Grisham book, so I can’t say this with full confidence until one of has done so.
This story by Jodi had no court, it was primarily about a psychic who had her own tv show. It was much more science fiction than I imagined most of her books to be. Seemed to be Neil Gaimanesqe, whom I usually a big fan of and I just started reading The Ocean at the End of the Lane by him.
This book certainly was entertaining. I don’t know if I liked it quite enough to read a full novel from her, but maybe one day.

This one also contains a taster for the new book – Serenity Jones is one of the fascinating characters who will be entertaining us in “Leaving Time”. “Where There’s Smoke” is one I have no hesitation in recommending.
