Surrendering to the Dragon is the 7th book in Jessie Donovan’s Stonefire Dragons series and it is an amazing story. This book features Nikki Gray and Rafe Hartley.
Nikki and Rafe are working together to take down Simon Bourne, leader of the dragon hunters. They have worked together in the past and due to some hateful things Rafe said one night to Nikki after a friends death Nikki is determined to keep her distance from the no good alpha human.
Rafe has very strong feelings for Nikki and after six months of working together he can’t stand it anymore and gives into his basic need and kisses her. That one kiss is all it takes for Nikki’s dragon to stakes claim to Rafe as her true mate and she doesn’t want to let him go until he gives them a child. Nikki even thou she is losing her fight with her inner dragon pushes Rafe away. Now Rafe needs to make a choice in helping Nikki and her dragon by becoming a father or throwing six months of work out the window and walking away.
This is a very touching love story as not only are Rafe and Nikki working against each other with their true feelings, but if they do have a child together, they have to fight the legal system that doesn’t allow male humans to live with the dragons.
I really enjoyed learning more about not only who Nikki is but who Rafe is as well. I really hope to learn more about this amazing couple in future books.

Always a pleasure reading Jessie’s Dragons. Another story to re-read, again and again. Rafe and Nikki walk the fine line between love and hate, but have been working together well. They must decide what they want, separately. It is also up to them to talk through what is going on with them. They are faced with enemies all around and even friendly faces may not be.

I have to admit I was on the fence about this book at first….a human male attempting to keep up with a female dragon shifter? Riiigghhhttttt. But I have to admit I was greatly impressed!! Rafe has just enough alpha in him to even the odds. After learning about their past together it was easy to see why Nikki was so ‘whatever’ about Rafe. And when her dragon decides she’s tired of all the fluffing around? All hell breaks loose.
I saw a new side to both characters that made them relatable and watching their love grow was great. To many times in some books you see them go from ‘I hate you’ to ‘I can’t live without you’ so fast you wonder where half the book went…It’s off putting. But this story had just the right amount of relatability, sass, comedy, drama, and love to make it a wonderful read! I was highly impressed and proved wrong by my first thoughts. Loved these 2! Way to go Jesse on another amazing read!

The suspense is a killer. which means it was fantastic. I loved Bram being a pain in the butt setting up his grumpy dragon friend with a female to help him overcome his prejudice. Tristan is a grumpier but after hearing the details no matter how hard your heart is you cannot hate him. You can wish he would get his head out of his butt and stop blaming the kind-hearted Melanie but you can’t hate him. Melanie is stubborn and kind and one of those people that gets under your skin until you cannot remember a time you didn’t love them. I love how she stands up to everyone. the more the situation calls for tact the less of it she has preferring blunt honesty even with the clan leader. It’s remarkable that she wills herself to be strong even when she does not want to be. Together they are a very strong willed couple that will likely bear children who will take over the world.
