If you are reading this, and at all interested in the genre, stop wasting your time reading other peeps words, go grab book 1, and be enchanted by the words of K. F. Breene.
This series was fantastic! Start to stop, cover to cover, books 1-6….all great. The characters were relatable, believable, and just so much fun to get to know. I have times I generally read every day. This series had me whipping my book out in public left, right, and center, all the time. I don’t leave a lot of reviews, I kind of suck like that. I’d rather just get to the next book and leave you all to your devices. However, I am so bummed that this series is over and I don’t get to see what Bria will say next, who daisy will stab, or what new misfit will join my newest favorite chosen family, that I had to say something. Please, do yourself and any reading friends a favor and just read the series.
Here are some things the books DON’T have:
A Mary Sue. Alexis is awesome, but she struggles, she learns, and the resolutions make sense and are plausible.
Painfully awkward sex scenes. I buy the attraction between the characters. They sizzle, but it’s not explicit for the sake of making us horny, it makes sense, it’s well written, and always just enough. Not too short, not too long.
A “whiteboard” character. IDK if this is a real, concious thing authors sometimes do, either when they think their audience is stupid, or their subject matter is too obscure. They give us a really ignorant character who asks a lot of stupid questions,so the author can “clue us in” on what’s going on. Not here. They give us info and insights in ways that are very natural without spoon feeding us. I always want to choke that guy. Authors, don’t use that guy!
Bad guys with no depth. The villains in this series are so good. They have so much depth, they show conflict with their actions. They aren’t just cookie cutter bad guys. You like them, you hate them, you love them, you find yourself able to see their side, wishing for their redemption, and even delighting in their villainy. I want to read their backstories. How did they get here? They aren’t just Evil, Inc. And I love it!
A predictable story. I hate guessing the ending, but I can’t help myself. I hate it more when I’m right. This series gave twists. I was shocked, I yelled at my book, I put my book down and sent very random messages to peeps who had no idea what I was talking about, but still agreed things were shocking.
A boring or formulaic ensemble cast. I love the crew. I love the family. I love the cats. I want spin off series for everyone. They all were fleshed out enough for their own books, and lovingly crafted to make you REALLY want them. Seriously, the characters and their relationships are OUTSTANDING!
Another book. I finished, and I’m so sad. So incredibly sad. I will miss this zany, crazy, #crewgoals, misfit family more than I can say.
As a light trigger warning, there are some heavy themes in this series. Kidnapping, torture, child abuse, rape. Some pretty shocking violence, including against children (teens). All themes were handled delicately, I feel, nothing’s overly graphic. Well….Mordie….*shudder*. Either way,it isn’t gratuitous or used for cheap shock and thrills.
Bottom line is: you could have been into the first chapter by now. You’d already be hooked. Go. Go now.
5.0 out of 5 stars Very enjoyable!

Being absolutely honest here, I enjoyed every book in this series! I never got bored or annoyed, something that easily happens. That said the culminating event of this last book was so well done I literally exclaimed “YES!” While reading it. This “light” romance novel holds its own against any straight up science fiction series. I look for to reading everything I can get from KF Breene!
