Shadow Slave

Shadow Slave is a dark fantasy story that follows the life of Sunny, a cynical and disillusioned young man who lives in a dystopian future where some people are randomly chosen by the Nightmare Spell, a mysterious phenomenon that transports them to a ruined magical world called the Dream Realm. There, they have to face terrible monsters and other dangers in order to survive and gain special powers.

The Nightmare Spell infects young people, usually around sixteen to eighteen years old. After being infected, they experience an overwhelming desire to sleep. Once they succumb to this feeling, they are transported to the First Nightmare, a trial created by the Spell that contains a central conflict that has to be resolved for the Nightmare to end. These conflicts are believed to be reconstructions of events from the ancient history of the Dream Realm. The Nightmares are populated by both monsters and humans, which are considered to be illusory. Only those who pass the First Nightmare become Awakened, people who have established a connection with the Dream Realm and possess special powers. They can enter the Dream Realm through special portals called Gateways, which are also the only way to return to the real world. The duty of the Awakened is to seek out and destroy Nightmares before they create a Gate, a portal that unleashes a horde of Nightmare Creatures into the real world.

Sunny is one of the Awakened, but he is not happy about it. He grew up in poverty, in the slums of a city ruled by a corrupt and oppressive government. He never expected anything good from life, and he does not care about the Dream Realm or its secrets. He only wants to survive and find a way to get rid of the Nightmare Spell. However, his life changes when he meets Nephis, a mysterious girl who claims to be his Shadow Slave, a person bound to him by the Spell. She is also an Awakened, but unlike Sunny, she is fascinated by the Dream Realm and wants to explore it. She convinces Sunny to join her in her adventures, and together they discover the wonders and horrors of the Dream Realm, as well as the truth behind the Nightmare Spell and its origin.

Along the way, they encounter other Awakened, some of whom are friendly, some of whom are hostile, and some of whom have their own agendas. They also face various Nightmare Creatures, such as dragons, demons, and undead. They learn how to use their powers, which are derived from the shadow fragments they collect from the Nightmares.
