Have been with Robyn Wideman since his first book – and am a fan. What originally caught my attention was his direct storytelling and plot advancement in his books. Sadly there is movement away from that. As time is going on this seems to be less and less of a focus and the stories do seem to have more “filler” for lack of a better description. This may sound like a negative review – and part of it is. Bloodlands seems to be more on point with the more focused writing. Hope he reels it back in and has more focused writing in the future.

So as I mentioned the author gets a little long winded in places, especially when they are planning the rescue. Seems like he goes over 20 scenarios that they aren’t going to use. So, I’m reading along and then all of a sudden the book just stops, no climax, no real progress. It feels like half of a book.
