The book continues from where the first one left off, with Olive finding out that Lucas is her boss and that he has a dark past involving his abusive father and his deceased fiancee. Olive is torn between her attraction to Lucas and her friendship with Leo, who also has feelings for her. She also has to deal with her own family drama, as her mother is an alcoholic and her father is a gambler who owes money to dangerous people.
