A degenerate guard orphaned as a child is informed by an Interpol agent that his parents’ funeral was a hoax. The only one with answers is the man’s godfather – a current fugitive. The guard vanishes to find the man alone while the agent deciphers clues a decade old on his own search, learning as he goes the godfather’s unique history and the consequences that could occur if he should fail.

As a former editor who still keeps her hand in it, there are several things to note about this book. First, most people won’t read the little line that states this author is not the Dan Brown of best seller fame, so they’ll buy it believing he is. I almost wish he had used a pseudonym.
What I would like to make clear is that the writing, in and of itself, was for the most part rather good aside from the over use of “had” that often took me out of the story.
It is quite obvious there was no editor. I believe this is a self-published book, which is all well and good, but without editing and a truthful outside”impression” of the story line, the writer goes with his/her gut and doesn’t see what the reader does. That’s because writers (of which I consider myself), are too close to their ‘baby’. And, all too many writers ask friends or family to read it and of course, those people love you and wouldn’t want to dissuade you from writing that novel.
From the start I was struck by the omission of necessary words and the double words that were never edited in or out. It appears the story was never run through Word or Open Office to find those mistakes and if it was, something is wrong with the program.
