The two main characters of the novel are:

According to a review on Wehearfm.com, Clover is the first name of the main heroine of Oh For Mate’s Sake, while Basket is the last name given to her while considering her nature as an orphaned she-wolf. Clover is supposed to be the future Delta of the Sulfur pack. However, she has to endure several nasty ways from her pack.
First, she has to witness Alpha Denny, her mate, cheating with Andrea in front of her, which leads them to reject each other. Second, she has to face her archenemy in the mating ceremony, the evil Barbie Taylor, who injured her so badly through her pranks that lead Alpha Scott, Alpha Denny’s father, to completely annul the ceremony and thus slow down her ways to her mate.
Alpha Denny of the Sulfur pack on the other hand is the main male character of Oh For Mate’s Sake, should be the mate to the future Delta Clover. However, he continues to choose Andrea by repeatedly mentioning her name while also faking his apologies to Clover, which leads to a mutual rejection by both Denny and Clover.
He never cares whether Clover is bullied or abused in the Sulfur pack. All he cares about is his image as the future Alpha of the Sulfur pack after Alpha Scott steps down from his position. He even agrees with Alpha Scott, his father, to disband Clover from the Sulfur pack.
