I’ll level with your the first two books are hard to read. Main character is horrible, you will not be a fan of his. He is creepy at the best of times, and just terrible the rest. The entire series is his redemption arc, so they have to put him as low as possible and damn do they do a good job. The first two books are backstory, then character and world building. After that though, the world opens up and the story starts to take off. He realizes what a horrible person he is and sorta tries to do better, fails to do better many times but still tries and does a little better each time.
To summarize, it’s a very good story I do suggest reading for the world and things going on in it, but I was happy every time something horrible happened to the MC

Came here because it’s my favorite anime and manga, the book is BETTER. I don’t know how that’s possible but this goes so much more in-depth into the already deep world building the anime/manga has. ABSOLUTELY recommend!
5.0 out of 5 stars just a great light novel.

Started with the anime. The light novel really fleshed out a lot of stuff that I was missing. Enjoyed getting different perspectives as well.

As someone who doesn’t read much these days, I found great pleasure in the chapters of this light novel. It was a super easy read, and rather casual in my opinion. I watched the anime and was a huge fan of what they’ve done. As such, I found there is so much more to learn from these novels that it was absolutely a worthwhile read. I can’t wait to keep going and see exactly where this story take me!

Mushoku Tensei is an interesting story about second chances. In his past life Rudy was a 35 year old shut in and basic incel with no social skills that missed his own parents funeral. He dies and is reborn as Rudeus Greyrat.
What I like about this story over other isekai is that not only does Rudy have memories of his past life but along with that he has the same mental issues like his fear of going outside. He is still the person he was bur at the same time you can see him make efforts to be better, and even though he fails a lot, you cant help admire the work he puts in.
Now as for any negatives, I only have one and thats how the adults don’t treat Rudy like a kid, we all know he is mentally 35 but the characters don’t. So when his father talks about how he chased women, from Rudy’s dad perspective he is telling this stuff to a 6 year old child and that’s kind of messed up even if we know mentally Rudy is an adult. Still this was a minor thing. There are more issues specifically with Rudy’s dad that are problematic, but avoiding any spoilers.
That’s it, I really recommend this series, my only caveat is I would say this is more a story for 17-23 year old range, there are things in here I wouldn’t want a 15 year old reading.
