I was originally amused by the premise of an old woman reincarnating into the body of a villainess from an otome isekai game. It was amusing and the fact that she was an old lady was what drove me to read this in the first place.
But that premise slowly drifts away as each chapter progresses until we barely find the ‘old woman’ personality in the character. She becomes the generic female lead who somehow entrances the male lead with her basic common sense and decency. I’m not sold by it anymore.
The romance progresses like a telenovela with extra steps – each romantic ‘scenario’ is clearly scripted and shallow that I can’t imagine anyone falling in love like this. I mean they literally get a miscommunication scene where the two male leads save the women from douche-y dates. Like, bro? It’s so unrealistic that the king of the empire would stoop to the equivalent of a bar brawl in a tavern. I just. I can’t.

She’s one of the unrealistic kind of reincarnation MCs.
She was an old “naughty” woman with a loose mouth in her past life. In other words, quite unyielding and relentless and due to her age natually experienced in life in general.
In her new life, she kept her temper, but became a complete pushover who’s literally crying for help when a little bit badmouthed at a party. WTF?!
It doesn’t fit from top to bottom.
Not to mention the generic romance plots, it’s pretty much just concatenated cliche scenes. I would not really care for this if there were any other aspects to the story. Unfortunately, ‘romance’ is really all there is to the story and that “all” is mediocre.
The expected experience is non-existent. In every aspect of life, but most importantly ofcourse, in romance. I mean, yea, she was sold off to an asshole in her past life, but c’mon with her years she can’t be that agitated because of a simple date! And more than that, she can’t be that clueless about it! She had grown up children! She would at least have experienced it third-hand via her children. She is just like a 12-yo who had read about “love” in a book the first time but couldn’t grasp it.
That’s it about the MC. For the ML and the other characters, I won’t say much. With that inconsistent MC in mind, they all seem like thorough and deep personalities. Just kidding. They’re plain. But it’s true that they pretty much rescued the manhwa until I finally dropped it.
Another point I want to make cause it seems to pop up in more and more manhwas recently: A one-night-stand with a partner as drunk as her would be considered rape for me. Even if the consent would be given later (like they both wake up and like the situation and each other), that doesn’t change the fact that one person laid a hand on another person without prior permission. Period.
But .. No matter how wrong the ML was here, she should have never drank that much in the first place. Truth to be told: No one should ever drink this much. I believe everybody can think of someone with a lot of accidents or (lets say) “mood changes” (to put it mildly) when drunk. I can’t bring myself to pity them in most cases. If you know you can f**k up when drunk, dont drink. Period.
My first thought after the one-night-stand was: “Well, maybe you shouldn’t have drunk this much” and my second thought was “Disgusting rapist ..”. And just to point it out: It wouldn’t be different if the offenders and victims swapped (drunk ML raped by sober FL).
Sadly, in most cultures (even today) the female part of a one-night-stand would face much harsher consequences, while the male part may even recieve acknowledgement instead. This is totally wrong and absurd in so many f**king ways. I tend to judge people and situations with my own morale because I can’t accept a lot of those unquestioned social doctrines! One can’t even call them “outdated” because it would imply there was a time when all of it was okay!
I mean, yes, there are a lot of discussions regarding womens rights and gender neutrality and all, but the problem is: those discussions are done by people who were interested in/affected by this topic in the first place. People who (think) have nothing to do with it, generally won’t take part in those controversal discussions.
Now, just to lighten the mood *vicious smile*:
You can safely claim that roughly half of humankind would care for womens rights more than the other half does.
And you can also say that there are roughly twice the amount of tits as there are women 😉

It was a 4/10 before their marriage, but now its a 2/10. Really, the moment they got married (I mean, literally the next day) she’s already questioning his faithfulness because of some BS of a clearly jealous foreign princess. MC was even sure it was bullshit until (I can only guess this:) the author thought “this faithfulness doubting plot has to be in there and it HAS to be the day after marriage!” … She even said it herself: “He probably already had his one or two ladies in his life, it’s in the past, what do I care?”.
That was the point I just couldn’t stand it anymore … I was hoping for a bigger picture in the story after they get married (like the fortold war or politics/schemes in general. The emperor vs nobles faction vs commoners faction) but it continues to just pile up romancing cliches until the end. That wouldn’t even be a problem if they were just made well and nice to read, but they aren’t. It’s almost embarrassing that I had my hopes up for so long …
A loveless bunch of words about love written down plainly and in colorless colors. Fortunately, at least the pictures were colorful.

It was very fun at the beginning because of the old lady antics inside a cute young girl. Then these antics faded away, the cute girl became a know everything woman. It begins to be boring and to be a very common story. I stall for the moment.

Mildly entertaining if you don’t think too much about it. Otherwise, it’s so bland, while reading I kept thinking about similar but better stories. Everything is so superficial. For example, the Mc becomes empress but does none of her duties as a ruler. Avoid.
