I enjoyed this book with a fun spin on the fairytales we all love. Mari & Kai are a cute couple and I liked reading about Mari not being a perfect mom. I’m looking forward to learning more about this group of characters in the next book.

This is a great first book for the series! Mari Fable Rowan is an investigation journalist and the story starts with her about to give birth. Strange things happen and sets up the story well.
I love the relationship she has with her husband Kia! Kia is a history teacher and never doubts his wife one moment when she tells him about the supernatural.
She does her investigation with baby Wendy strapped on. She is struggling with her new mom role and improvising.
This Red riding hood retelling is full of funny, suspense, intrigue and guesses.
I don’t feel like the wolf was a big surprise but made sense.
I’m looking forward to diving into the next book. There are some questions about her family I have and look forward to discovering the answers.
Oh and her phrases she utters out always makes me laugh. I just really love this book!

A refreshing and unique take on the classics. I thoroughly enjoyed the adventure into this world. I loved the main character her voice felt so real and relatable, like a friend. Her relationships rang true and with feeling. The humor wasn’t forced. The whole story just flowed. The imagery was so visceral I felt as though I was there beside the main character experiencing it with her. The mystery of it all kept you guessing until the end. I was on an emotional rollercoaster from the first page re-experiencing those first months of motherhood and all the unknowns doubts and emotions as the main character experienced them. I can not wait to read the next book in this series.
