This was not my favorite of Jordan’s Conan tales. The ending was a little disappointing, and it seemed like Conan’s story became unnecessarily entwined with another hero’s adventure. All of the books in this series are with the read, however.

Why all the drama and romance? I prefer a more psychological tension between Conan and his antagonist. Lots of missed opportunities to embellish Conan s superiority with in the group dynamic. Enjoyable read but nothing epic here.

As usual, Robert Jordan did a good job with the story. However, I was a little disappointed with the climax at the end. It seemed to unfold a bit too quickly and simply considering what lead up to it. But it was still a nice ride.
