I recently went to a new doctor name of Melville. I asked him if he was related to “Herman”
Turns out he is the great great grandson of Herman Melville. I ordered several of his books and gave the to the Doc for his waiting room. Also some for me.. Marvelous writer . He is a little hard to read as he is so descriptive it’s possible to get lost in the verbiage

His great great grandson has his practice in Watkinsville Georgia so I sorta forgot Herman was a New England Yankee. I ordered his book of
civil war poems and found they are all written with a “UNION” slant, Hence my not liking the poems even though they are well written

Yes we are still fighting the War Between The States down here. BUT it’s all in fun

Celebrated American author Herman Melville wrote ‘Battle Pieces’ pdf book and several other sea-adventure novels before turning to poetry later in his literary career. Herman Melville was born in New York City in 1819. He worked as a crew member on several vessels beginning in 1839, his experiences spawning his successful early novels Typee (1846) and Omoo (1847).
