Julie Clark does not disappoint! She has a knack for writing flawed yet lovable characters. Together, Meg and Kat make an unlikely yet powerful duo.

When Meg comes back to town, Kat thinks this is her opportunity to seek revenge on her for an incident that occurred ten years prior. What she doesn’t realize is that Meg holds the reigns. A skilled and seasoned con artist, she cannot be easily conned herself. The two forge an unorthodox friendship, and Kat comes to see that maybe Meg’s cons aren’t as selfish as she once assumed.

Both Meg and Kat’s stories are strong and well-developed, playing off each other flawlessly. My only quip is how only one man in the entire book is one of the ‘good guys’ and we only see him for a brief time. It wasn’t a major turn-off for me because the story was strong enough, but it was an obvious case of an ‘all men are bad’ situation. Nonetheless, I loved both of the main characters and I love how the story came full circle.

The Lies I Tell by Julie Clark is a twisty battle of wits between a con-artist and a journalist. The novel is fast-paced with two female leads building a wary friendship based on lies and an unfortunate shared history. I typically avoid stories about grifters because the characters are so unlikable, but there are unique circumstances in this one that enabled me to almost root for the con-woman to succeed. I wish the journalist had chosen a different path at the end, but many readers will undoubtedly think it’s perfect and will enjoy the arc of her character’s growth during the novel. Four stars for this original, suspenseful tale.

Rob from the wicked and give to the less fortunate, The ones who were demolished in their path to corruption.

Such a good read- the lies- the twists- the understanding- you create a new world anytime the one you live in becomes too unbearable to remain in.

Gosh how lovely it sounds to escape suffering, yo reinvent yourself again and again, to grow in wisdom, resources and finances- but it’s lonely- so much of who we are goes back to our roots-

This story is about two women- one a con artist who we believe we know- notorious for getting away with robbing people and vanishing before they have a clue- and a reporter whose world imploded after being tipped off by the con artist- two paths- not meant to collide- intersect and evolve-

Not all people who make bad decisions are malicious in them- many have a wonderful reason behind their actions-Not as good as the last flight but worth reading and absorbing.
