Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1, image #1

After passing through the mysterious door in the Louvre, I found myself in the evening world, where the crescent moon rules. Without a doubt, I fell under his spell, because I just had a completely impossible dream.

(Vampire bite… The dream was so realistic.)

This is the second all-too-realistic dream I’ve had since arriving here. I just finished telling Sebastian the butler about this.

Molly: “…like a vampire. The most incredible dreams are so believable.”

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1, image #2

Sebastian is silent. He must have gotten tired of my chatter.

Molly: Thanks for listening to my stupid dream. I hope you don’t think I’m crazy now?”

Sebastian: “I don’t think you’re crazy, nor do I think it was just a stupid dream.”

Molly: “What do you think it was?”

Sebastian: “I’d say it’s a good sign.”

I feel a pang of anxiety.

Molly: “Is my nightmare a good sign?”

Sebastian: “I guess you dreamed it because you’re here in the mansion.”

Molly: “That’s nonsense…”

Sebastian: This dream warns you. You must not give them your body or your heart.”

Molly: “Them?”

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1, image #3

Sebastian: “To the inhabitants of the mansion. You see, everyone you met today… is the one you saw in your dream. They are vampires.”

My heart skips a beat. I’m getting cold.

(No…he can’t be serious.)

Molly: “Vampires? Sebastian, are you serious?”

Sebastian: “Absolutely. Everyone who lives in the mansion is a vampire.”

His face is impassive and does not express anything. I must say, otherwise, this joke would have been awkward.

Molly: “Oh, I didn’t realize right away that you were joking. It’s funny, don’t say anything.”

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1, image #4

Sebastian: “…Ridiculous?”

Molly: “Yeah. It’s very smart of you to try to distract me from my nightmares with humor. It seems to have worked. I’ve already calmed down.”

I take my last sip. The cold drink refreshed my mind.

I almost fell for it. Usually I myself am not averse to joking and laughing.

(But today I’m a little out of my mind. I guess it’s all about this place.)

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1, image #5

“This place” is Paris at the turn of the century. I accidentally traveled back in time through that strange door, and now I won’t be able to return home for a month.

And I’m not the only one. People like Vincent van Gogh and Napoleon Bonaparte (at least that’s how they introduced themselves) live here. This is my first night at the mansion and the surprises she brings will last me the rest of my life.

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1, image #8

(So don’t even try to convince me that the locals are also vampires! Unless you want to test the limits of human reason. I’ve had enough today, thank you! All I need is sound sleep.)

Molly: Thanks for the water, Sebastian. I should go back to bed.”

Sebastian: “Molly, wait. It’s not a joke at all.”

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1, image #9

Arthur: “Good God, are you two still on your feet?”

The characteristic clicking of oxford heels heralded the appearance in the kitchen…

Molly: “Arthur, right?”

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the famous author of detective stories and the creator of the image of Sherlock Holmes.

Arthur: “Remember my name? Wonderful. Just wonderful!”

Molly: “I’d say it stuck in my memory. Just like you – in my personal space.

Arthur: “I assure you, I did it on purpose.”

(And it’s hard to shame him.)

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1, image #11

Sebastian: “Sir Arthur, did you go back to town… to have fun?”

Arthur: “Yes. And I don’t see anything wrong with treating myself to a small dessert after dinner. Even though I was still hungry today. There wasn’t a single crumb that I could bite into.”

(“Dessert”? “Bite”?)

As I understand it, Arthur is metaphorically describing his love affairs. For sure. He looks at Sebastian.

Arthur: Can you get me a bottle, Basty? The waste of love energy only increased the feeling of hunger, and I don’t feel like going to bed on an empty stomach at all.

Sebastian: “Right now.”

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1, image #14

Sebastian walks through the kitchen and returns with a beautiful decanter filled with a thick scarlet liquid.

Molly: “What is it? Wine? Tomato juice?”

Arthur: “Oh, she doesn’t know?”

Sebastian: I was just trying to explain when you arrived. She seems to think I’m joking.”

Arthur: “Basti, you surprise me. You might think you yourself believed the first time.

(I don’t like this conversation at all.)

The heart is beating faster. Faster. Faster… Too-dum. Tu-dum. Like an alarm.

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1, image #15

Arthur: The Count says you’re staying with us for a while, right Molly? If so, you’ll probably want to get to know us better. AS close as POSSIBLE, if you allow me such audacity.”

Sebastian: “Sir Arthur, may I ask what you intend…”

Arthur takes the decanter from the butler and uncorks it. He approaches me. Too close… He obviously has problems with other people’s personal space.

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1, image #16

Arthur: You asked what it was. It’s called Rouge. Or rather, that’s what we call it.”

Rouge (fr.) – red

As if challenging me, Arthur takes a long sip, and his upper lip turns a characteristic shade of red.

Arthur: “…others call it blood.”

Molly: “Blood?”

Arthur: “The same is flowing through your veins now. She keeps us alive.”

Another heartbeat, heavy and painful.

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1, image #18

Arthur: “Basti wasn’t joking at all. We are all vampires.”

(Is it because you drank a bottle of… whatever I saw in front of me, you expect that…)

Molly: “Enough already! This joke is no longer funny…

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1, image #19

Arthur: “Your disbelief hurts. Perhaps this will convince you?

He brings the half-empty decanter to my nose. Not tomatoes. And not a rich wine aroma. Warm metallic smell.

(I don’t know what blood smells like, but the smell of this liquid is definitely not familiar to me.)

If it really is blood and Arthur just drank it – what else can I think?

(No sane person would drink blood for some joke. And that means…)

Molly: “So it’s true? Are you all vampires?

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1, image #20

Sebastian: Not all. For example, I’m not a vampire.”

I almost laughed, because this remark sounds not at all comforting. Not at the moment when the weight of the world came crashing down on me. Again.
A prank designed especially for me? But how long does it take to prepare everything? Without any guarantees that I will see this performance.

(I had just managed to accept the possibility of time travel, so now vampires… I completely lost my sense of reality.)

Ignoring my fall down the rabbit hole, or enjoying it, Arthur adds with a wry grin.

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1 image #21

Arthur: “I suppose the earl didn’t bother to mention that we all died once?”

Molly: “He didn’t say…”

Arthur: “You could guess for yourself. Well, at least as far as “Old Man” Newt and the others are concerned. They all died many years ago. Or forward, if you’re talking about me. Time travel is a tricky thing, isn’t it?”

Molly: “I… I don’t… I guess I do. But how did you all end up here, then?”

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1 image #22

Arthur: “Great question!”

Arthur is pulling the last strings that still hold my sanity. It seems to please him.

Arthur: “The Count personally visited each of us on his deathbed with a proposal. Whoever accepted it received a new life in this place.”

Molly: “A new life as vampires, you mean?”

Arthur: “Exactly.”

Arthur: “”I can grant you immortality. For this, you will have to give up your human nature and become a vampire.” That was his proposal.”

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1, image #24

Who is this Comte Saint-Germain, since he is able to revive the dying? Why, knowing the price, did all these people accept his offer? Questions. Puzzles. Oddities. Understatement. All this paints a strange picture in my head.

(I was at the museum this afternoon. And this day, in theory, has not even ended. Too much information for one day!)

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1, image #27

Sebastian: “Sir Arthur, if I may intervene, I think it’s too late for such talk. A little more and you will completely confuse Molly.

Arthur: “Won’t you interrupt me in the middle of a good story?”

Arthur slumped for a moment, but immediately perked up.

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1 image #28

Arthur: “Well, okay. That’s really enough for today. Molly…”

Arthur holds out his hand.

Molly: “I’m sorry!”

He touches my neck.

Arthur: “If you’re tired of listening, I can show you… sweet and gentle… what kind of creatures vampires are.”

He’s too close. Fear seethes in me. I take a step back. Another. My throat is dry. I want to speak, but the language is hard to listen to.

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1, image #31

Quite a joke.

No thanks. (dp +4 rp +4) 👈

I don’t want to know.

Molly: “No thanks.”

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1, image #32

Arthur: “Are you sure? I’m good with girls.”

(I can’t stay here!)

Molly: “Listen… See you later, that is, see you tomorrow!”

I slowly move towards the door. When I cross the threshold, I stop pretending and start running.

Sebastian: “Molly?”

I hear Arthur laugh.

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1 image #33

(Enough! I’ve had enough of this place! I’m off!)

Dark curtains. Dark corridors. I run, and the shadows of the monsters follow me in the moonlight.

(I was suspicious of this place and these people from the very beginning. But the truth is much more terrible than I could have imagined. They are vampires and feed on living people.)

If only this was just another dream! Let me get stuck in it – it doesn’t matter! – the main thing is that there is reality beyond the nightmare!
But the setting has a sickening realism that was not there in my previous visions.

(When Comte Saint-Germain and Sebastian insisted that I stay…

[flashback]

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1, image #34

Saint Germain: “I’ll gladly invite you to spend the next month here.”

Molly: “I can sleep over, but…”

Sebastian: “You do realize you won’t be able to return home for the next thirty days, right?”

Molly: “I am an experienced traveler. I can manage on my own, as I have done all my life.”

Sebastian: “I’m afraid you will have to face a number of difficulties. This is France at the turn of the century. How are you going to “manage yourself”?”

[end of flashback]

(…they just wanted to provide fresh blood for their guests?)

Why are there no other servants in the house? Has she been before? What fate awaits me if I stay? How many people have been sacrificed to this mansion of the dead? And I almost fell into the trap! The thought of death, of filling a small glass decanter with my blood, makes me tremble with terror.

(…can’t be forgotten. It’s night. And it’s still the 19th century. My first goal is to find a safe – REALLY safe – place. The front door is probably guarded: they’re not likely to let “food” slip away so easily. But this house is huge There must be a back door somewhere.)

There were many doors lined up at the end of the corridor. I open one of them…

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1, image #36

…and enter another world. In a huge library, the cabinets of which are lined with old books. As much as I love books, I’m not attracted to this room filled with soft electric light right now.

(Just a library. There are no doors here.)

I turn with the intent to leave…and hear the sound of heavy boots behind me.

???: “Are you looking for something?”

I turn around. He emerges from the shadows of a thousand books, a living illustration born from their musty pages.

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1, image #37

I look at the outlines that I saw only once in my life, and I turn to my memory.

(I remembered him.)

[flashback]

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1 image #38

Leonardo: “Hmm? Should I introduce myself? Leonardo da Vinci.”

Leonardo: “I don’t know what happened, but your luck obviously changed, since you ended up in a place like this.”

Molly: “Why do you think that?”

Leonardo: “To put it simply, cara mia, I doubt you’ll like it here.”

[end of flashback]

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1 image #39

He named himself after the Italian artist and brilliant inventor Leonardo Da Vinci. And he warned me about this place.

(But, since he is one of the historical figures who came back to life, then he is also a vampire.)

Leonardo: “I asked what are you doing here, cara mia.”

“Cara mia” is “my dear” in Italian. An odd call for a stranger. I look at him in dismay. And I see his eyes. Eyes the color of molten gold, twinkling in the dark like a cat’s.

Leonardo: Speak. Or did you not hear me?

Something about that golden gaze soothes my fear. Before I realize what I’m doing, I tell what happened. From start to finish.

Molly: “…I didn’t mean to disturb you. I’m leaving, or rather, I want to leave and I’m looking for a way out.

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1, image #40

Leonardo: Are you leaving? You are crazy? It’s the middle of the night… Do you often let fear guide your actions like this?”

Molly: “How do you know that I…”

Leonardo: “It’s a mystery to me too. If someone seriously tries to leave the house at such a time, Basti will raise everyone’s ears with his screams. You are undressed. You don’t have a bag with you.”

I look around myself.

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1 image #42

Leonardo: “You are pale and suffocating. You ran. From something or someone? Everything points to panic, doesn’t it?”

He speaks softly, perhaps wanting to reassure me. Of course they want me to stay.

Molly: “Okay, I confess. But take the trouble to imagine how you would react in my place?

Leonardo: “Reacted to what?”

Molly: Realizing that the mansion is full of hungry vampires! Naturally, I try to escape! Find a safe place!”

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1 image #43

Leonardo: “So that’s what you’re running from. I was afraid it would.”

(Oh, were you afraid ?!)

Molly: “Anyway, I don’t intend to stay here. Farewell.”

As I turn to leave, Leonardo grabs my arm.

Molly: “Let go!”

He is inhumanly strong. No matter how hard I try, I can’t get free!

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1, image #44

Leonardo: “You shouldn’t go outside alone.”

Molly: Don’t try to stop me, vampire! I don’t want to be your snack!”

I fight with all my might, but in vain. My panic reaches its limit. Leonardo sighs.

Leonardo: “You’re not listening to me.”

Ikemen Vampire. Leonardo. Chapter 1, image #45

He lets go of my hand, but embraces me. The urge to fight and run fades as I feel his body pressed against mine. I’m not here anymore … where I found myself, something warm sparkles. Deep connection. Hot flash. The touch of someone else’s lips on mine.

(Is this… really happening?)

Fear of this place, of the situation, urges me to run without looking back. But something much stronger is telling you to stay – to stay right here. Leonardo’s not mighty grip keeps me in his arms. And it didn’t take my breath away.

I let go of the situation. It’s okay, because he’s holding me… Leonardo noticed my fear and drew it out like poison.

Old gold eyes find mine. A strange sympathy is read in his eyes. “I understand you, everything will be fine.”

I silently agree. He releases me. But its sweet scent stays with me, tickling my nose, forever imprinting this kiss in my memory.

Leonardo: “…Brava. Good girl.”

Brava (it.) – clever
