Get the second book before you finish this one. Trust me.
This is written in first person, and usually I’m not a fan of that viewpoint in stories. Though, this wasn’t nearly as bad as some of the other’s I’ve read. I really enjoyed this book. I appreciate that the main character is in her early 20’s and is someone I can have a bit of a relation to.
The sex scenes are really good, though there aren’t many – so if you’re looking for something with a lot in it, this isn’t your book. HOWEVER, the story is a really compelling one, and I’m more for story with some sex than sex with hardly any story.
Mera is a very strong headed woman and I really admire seeing someone like her. She’s vulnerable and human, but is very resilient and an over all good character.
There were a few times the writer broke the 4th wall, so to speak. I didn’t really care for that too much. She’d make a pun or reference to something possibly “pop culture” or at least potentially well known, and then she’d follow up with “Yea, I went there.” It kind of ruined those moments for me, but other than that, I really enjoyed the story and am VERY glad I got the second book before I finished the first.
