I love Hoffman’s writing. I am used to her more adult novels so this one was a pleasant surprise. It took me only an hour to read but it brought back memories os childhood and friendship. As usual with Hoffman’s writing, you can feel the intricate bonds between the two friends and the angst of young love. This book is perfect for young readers or for older nostalgic ones.

I bought this charming tale as a gift for a student who had broken her arm right before summer vacation. I had read the book before, enjoyed it very much, and wished to share it. Please note- this book is not the same as the movie of the same name. The story is quite different, but I will say no more so I won’t spoil the ending. A sweet story.
