I found this on a Facebook ad and got sucked into one of those pay-ridiculous-amounts-of-money-to-read-the-next-chapter apps called GoodNovel. This is the first book I have ever actually finished on one of those apps. I’ve been sucked in on a lot of them but I usually lose interest and don’t think the amount of money they ask for is with it to read the next chapter beyond the free chapters. But this one kept me wanting more. And it was really cool that it had the audiobook option so I could listen while driving.

Although I will say it was really annoying to spend all that money and reach the end, only for the author to say she plans to publish a more edited version of this book sometime next year… I will probably buy that too because I really liked this story.

So this starts out with Everly sneaking out of the bedroom of the Alpha to her father’s rival pack. She knows she needs to get home before it’s discovered who she is or before her father starts asking too many questions about where she is. She doesn’t want to start a war but at the same time she felt drawn to Valen, the Blood Alpha when she snuck into the annual Alpha meetup.

When she finds out she’s pregnant she is basically kicked out because she is considered a disgrace to her family and everywhere she turns seems to be a dead end, even when she tries to contact Valen, who doesn’t even remember her, as he was pretty drunk the night they were together.

The beginning is kind of rough because Everly struggles, and Valen inadvertently hurts her over and over again building a lot of resentment up in Everly. But throughout these trials she is molded into a strong woman, and she learns to stand up for herself and other rogues/outcasts. She builds her own community and pack with loyalty to rival all the other packs around them.

It’s so satisfying when Valen finally finds Everly again and realizes she’s his mate, and that she wants absolutely nothing to do with him. He has to work to get her. Although I didn’t really care for how he did it. There was a bit of manipulation and forcing her into situations where she didn’t have much of a choice but to do what he wanted, and that annoys me to no end because I was ready for him to try and win her over, not force her through manipulation. But the more he learned about what life was like for her in the past 4 years the more remorse he felt. Except one part where he asked her to stop throwing it in his face like 2 days after he found out how badly his last actions had been hurting her. It was literally killing her… but he was tired of hearing about it 24 hours after finding out about? That ticked me off. Let her get her pound of flesh, you certainly did over the years.

But once they did get together I really liked their relationship. Valen was charming and funny. He teased her a lot and it was cute. I wanted more sweet moments of them together. I would have liked a little more of the relationship building before it immediately started into the next book because the next part they hit the ground running.

That book was Alpha’s Redemption. But there doesn’t seem to be a book for it on goodreads. It was tacked on to this story but it was supposed to be a part two.

In this book her two best friends got their happy endings too, but not before going through it. This book was full of chaos and happiness and sadness. It was a great ending to a book with a sad beginning.

There were a lot of editing issues that would make this a much better book if/when corrected. But there were also some small things that I think would really take this book to the next level if addressed. Some continuity issues, like Valen’s father apparently loved his mate and visited her often even though he never mated her because of his own father… but if he loved her so much like he seemed to at the end, why didn’t he take her as his mate after his father died? And why did he sleep with other women? Valarie basically said he did when she was explaining to Everly that you get used to the pain of the infidelity. So at the beginning he is sort of a villain but by the end he’s a great dad and grandfather who made a mistake by not taking his mate… the Kalen described at the beginning was not the same Kalen we knew by the end. It seemed like author didn’t think that one fully out when writing it.

There were other small issues like when they saw the bruises all over Everly’s torso as a result of Valen’s infidelity, it was said they would fade if they mated. So Valen gets her to mark him and then it’s never talked about again. You would think we would get an update on the marks fading or her health improving, but it’s just assumed I guess. Or when they are finally together again the first time they sleep together is technically like Everly’s first time again because she didn’t even remember their one night together. And she wasn’t with any other men… so you would think she wouldn’t feel so confident or at least have some thoughts reflecting the fact that it was going to be like her first time all over again. But nope, there was never an insecurity or inkling that she even thought about it being her first time ever remembering s*ex. So if those kinds of small things were fleshed out a little more, it would have made this story even better and probably have been a 5 star read for me.

This book was amazing! Loved it! I need to know when the series is coming out? I literally read this in one day I’m hooked addicted. Any ideas on when the rest will drop? That ending is amazing but such a cliff hanger girl has me stressed about all of them.

I really enjoyed this book! Would totally read it if it was on kindle unlimited (noticed the author has a few other books on there) great story

Nikki Shepard rated it it was amazing

This story came up on a Facebook ad and I’m so glad it did I have LOVED every chapter I’ve read (I’m through 127). Literally could not stop reading it or put it down. Dying to find where else I can read the newest chapters for free-i have to know what else happens lol! My only criticism is that some of the editing is rough and in later chapters some of the characters names are incorrect i.e. referencing Casey while talking about Macey, kalen instead of John.
Please keep writing! Truly have an amazing talent!
